Wall Lamps

Wall lamps offer a great way to add a little contemporary style to your home while providing an adequate light source to brighten up any room or outdoor setting. They are essentially light fixtures that offer a space saving alternative and also brings a little style and class to your home.

 

 

 

Wall lamps are made with typical lighting material such as glass, metal or even plastic. Each comes with a mounting assembly so that you can affix it to any wall, inside or outside your home. Typically having a design that optimizes light reflection in either one direction or all around, they will have either an intricate design giving an antique appearance or a simple modern appearance for a more robust yet elegant flair.

For a dim yet warm color, the glass should be frosted to give off just the right amount of light. If you require a brighter glow, then models are available that sport a clear or light colored glass that will make any room glow with radiance.

For outdoor lamp mounting, the lamp needs to be well protected against any water that may short circuit the fixture. An enclosed glass exterior with the open end hanging down should suffice, or place it in an area that is protected from the weather. Outdoor models are also available that are made specifically for any weather and can be mounted even on trees although the name suggest wall mounting.

Many varieties of wall lamps are very flexible and come with a swinging arm that allows for easy movement and placement of the light beam. This is great if the light is above a work table or in a study where you might feel the need to move around while you read. They also come as a single unit or having two or more light fixtures attached to one mounting section.

Other models will have full coverage of an entire room based on its design; some may also have a gooseneck arm that allows for maximum directional placement of light.

For the setup, many come with a wall plug and allow for easy manual installation with simply screws or mounting clips. Other may have to be installed by a certified electrician who can tap into the house’s wiring and connect it through the wall. If you want a quick and easy solution to a lighting problem, ensure that you get a wall lamp that can be plugged in directly and does not need any added work to install; this are popularly called plug in wall lighting.

Bulb choices vary from halogen to soft white. It’s best to go with a low watt bulb in order to save on electricity, although xenon bulbs are a great solution as they last longer and offer a brighter light than typical bulbs. The bulb type should be checked carefully, as you want a bulb that can be obtained fairly easily by going to any home improvement or hardware store. Specialty bulbs will be hard to find and likely expensive.

Prices for wall lamps ranges and depends on the design, material it’s made from, placement i.e. inside or outside and how many light fixtures will be on one mounting unit. Ensure that you know where you want to place you wall lamp and that the color and design will match your rooms design.
